Lewis Balls, Director of Mini rugby

Welcome to the Minis Section at NRFC.

We train every Sunday from the first week in September through to the end of April. Training is 9.45am - 11.15am.

At Norwich, our aim is getting all children enjoying rugby, whether new to the game or existing.

Rugby is great way to develop physical fitness whilst having fun at the same time. It can produce great long-term friendships as well as help learn new life-skills on the journey. We encourage all children to give the sport a go and get involved with the NRFC community.

We follow the core values of rugby, something which I personally value and think it helps with development for players from a young age (TREADS).

Teamwork-Respect-Enjoyment-Discipline-Sportsmanship

We have groups ranging from U6s up to uU12s. Our uU6 is the Cubs which learn the basics and understanding of rugby, whilst having lots of fun in the process. This will be followed by 2 years of tag rugby before starting the first stage of contact at U9s.

Each year group, you will learn and adapt to new skills as they are brought into place.

We have great opportunities to play team across Norfolk, and more so now, further afield. We play multiple festivals throughout the season which are great days to attend.

We also have to opportunities get involved with the wider family here at Norwich and get to do a guard of honour and mascots for the 1st XV at home games. These are really good for all involved and really can help immensely, especially the senior players.

As our young Lions go through the system, we hope that a handful can go on to make it to the 1st XV at the club.

With being head coach at U10s, I will always be on hand to help, where I can, on training days and game day, both home and away. Please feel free to find me or message anytime, I'll be happy to help and answer any questions.
