Match report from the Sudbury 7's

Match report from the Sudbury 7's

On a somewhat changeable afternoon in Sudbury our U18s arrived, fired up for their first set of matches this season.
We had a squad of 10 – a little depleted and certainly less than all of the opposition but what we lacked in numbers we made up for in typical Wildcats spirit!
Match 1 was against Dagenham who were quite daunting and we lost Katie to injury right at the start. We had to shake off a little rust and the new U18s had to get used to their new team-mates but by the end of the match the girls had found their feet.

Match 2 was against Bishop’s Stortford. The Wildcats had settled down and got into their rhythm which was reflected in the 3 great tries they scored. We saw improvement at the breakdown, the girls spread the ball successfully and ran some hard lines.

Match 3 was against Rochford/Thurrock, They were a well drilled team and had the edge on us but Amy scored a fabulous try, breaking straight through their defence.

Match 4 was against Eton Manor, our 9 Wildcats were all feeling a tad exhausted and wishing that the pitch would have halved in size since their last match! However, they didn’t give up and kept their heads held high. No tries for us in this match but a lot of great teamwork and smiling faces.

The girls were exhilarated and we watched them bond more as a team as the afternoon went on. The referee was full of praise for the Wildcats and the Rochford coach invited us down for a game so I’d say it was a job well done!

We’re so proud of Amy, Caitlin, Emily, Evie, Katie, Mea, Mia, Molly, Rosie and Tallulah for their great attitude, their determination and true grit.
Thanks also to coaches Karl and Adam for their support.
