MIKE 'BOYO' EVANS - RIP
It is with the greatest sadness that we report the death or Mike ‘Boyo’ Evans who passed away aged 84, unexpectedly in his sleep last night. Mike joined Norwich RFC in the 1960’s when he was stationed locally in the RAF. He played for the club when we were at the Fifers Lane ground and when he retired from playing, was involved in running the 1st XV.
An utterly charming and gentle man, Mike was a hugely popular character at the club and a regular presence at 1st XV games until very recently and much loved by Senior players that had enjoyed his support for many years.
Reflecting on his passing, former President Roy Bishop said “My buddy at the front of the bus when we looked after the First Team together, my buddy when I ran Norwich Colts and always needed a referee, my buddy when we played in the A and Extra A together, my buddy who never forgot my birthday even though I never remembered his, my buddy at the bar. I will miss him terribly.
Deepest sympathy to his wife Maureen and the rest of his family.
